On this Foundation Day, LDCE has launched international hackathon in association with VOSAP on Assistive Technology [AT] for anyone under the age of 25 that is interested in enhancing life of specially abled by use of technology.

As part of Foundation Day function - “Samarpan”, which was celebrated on June 20th 2022 to earmark beginning of its 75th year, L.D. College of Engineering in association with VOSAP [Voice of Specially Abled People] has launched international hackathon on Assistive Technology to promote development of solutions using latest technology that can enhance life of specially abled people(SAP). This is line with college’s one of the core values – ‘Being Industry and Socially Relevant’, and their efforts to promote using Engineering for Society, and Technology for Social Cause.
Themes for Hackathon are “MOBILITY”, “COMMUNICATION”, “LEARNING”. The Hackathon could witness products that can give ease of movements to those that have Orthopedic or neuromuscular impairments, for example Indoor and Outdoor mobility solutions like Smart Tricycle with Solar Charging, Knee Scooters etc. Also, communication related products such as wearable devices with indoor and outdoor map etc can help in communication. Right to education is a right for all, and SAPs have that right too. OR, products related to learning such as, learning platforms for different disabilities and many more.
The Hackathon was launched by Hon. Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel in august presence of Honourable Education minister Shri Jitubhai Vaghani, Minister of State Shri Kuberbhai, Faculty and students of LDCE, LDCE alumni, Industry and Research associates. The idea was well received by dignitaries and students’ community alike.
This hackathon is a step forward, and in turn way forward, to convert student ideas into great opportunity for them, as they apply their mind and soul in solving problems of specially abled.
